It may be possible that your budget does not allow for you to purchase a brand new backhoe for use at your business or farm. However, the fact still remains that you need a backhoe to help make your work easier and possibly to grow your business. The other option that you have instead of purchasing a new backhoe is to purchase a used backhoe.
Purchasing a Used Backhoe can help to save you a lot of money. Now, you may think that by purchasing a used backhoe that you will end up with an old, out-of-date machine that may not work for a very long time; however, if this is what you are thinking then you’re wrong. Used backhoes can be purchased that are older models, however, you can also purchase used backhoes that may only be a couple of years old. You will still invest a considerable amount of money in machines like this, and you will save quite a bit of money compared to the price that you would have to pay for a brand new machine.
Used backhoes can still be bought at great quality. In order to find a reliable, quality used backhoe, you must know what you are looking for. There are several things that you need to look at and take into consideration whenever you purchase a used backhoe.
1. Leaks. Look for leaks around the engine and around the hydraulics. Sometimes leaks don’t really mean much other than maybe a gasket needs to be changed or something may need to be tightened up. However, in other instances, a leak may mean that the machine might not have been taken care of and the possibility of you having to replace the motor could be in sight.
2. Rust. Yes, older machines will obviously have rust; however, if the machine has been well taken care of the possibility of the machine having rust on it is minimal. Look for rust even on the bucket and around moving parts. If rust is present, the machine might have been sitting for a while.
3. Test. Make sure to test out the machine to check all of the hydraulics and the controls. Make sure that there is no smoke coming from the motor and other obvious signs of wear and tear. Even if you are purchasing a machine where it is not possible for you to take a look at it, then try to find someone else to do it for you. You really don’t want to purchase a machine sight unseen or tested, for that matter, unless you know for a fact that you can trust the seller and that they will not steer you wrong.
Purchasing a used backhoe can be a great investment and it can help to save you quite a bit of money in the long run. If you don’t know anything about a backhoe, then take someone with you that does know. There are so many moving parts and such on a machine like this, that in order to make sure that you are not getting the wool pulled over your eyes, you’ll want someone with you that knows something about backhoes.
