I work for a company who have many good sales ideas, but the stucture of the company is limited to say the least. There are no reporting lines or any job descriptions and personally I feel that this could very much benefit the company for future growth and expansion. If the goal is to remain of a relatively small size then this is fine, but trying to compete with the nationals is very difficult and near impossible.
There are certain technological Industries and wholesale industries where national expansion poses no problem at all, but within a service industry it is very difficult. In order to be cost effective everything has to be coordinated with miltary precision which takes time and effort.
The aforementioned company sell water coolers and the occasional drinking fountain. The company sells to various organistaions including councils, large national companies, leisure centres and health clubs and also regional companies. These sales have increased since the company was founded back in January 2001. The company was set up from an existing Soft Drinks company and we took on several employees from existing water cooler companies to bring on their expertise and knowledge, this has benefited the company in numerous ways from a technical and sales perspective to the administration side of the business.
The company has approximately 35 staff working from a central base within the Midlands. These staff are attributed to various roles including sales representatives, customer services, sales, account managers and general administrative staff. As you can see it is a relatively large company.
