Family Beach Vacations Sports Activities

Sports are a major part of many of our lives,s o why should it be any different on out family beach vacations?  Here are a few sports that you may enjoy trying out the next time you go to the beach…

Beach Volleyball – The rules for this game vary, but you will need a volleyball and a makeshift net to get the game going. It’s amazing how many calories you can burn off by running for the ball in sand. The lack of traction that this medium provides can really provide a workout.Beach Golf – Bring an old sand wedge to practice your swing at the beach. Sand traps abound, so you can try out various shots in various mediums. If you would like to play with kids, you can pick up some plastic golf clubs and balls at the local dollar store.Beach bowling – The dry crust of sand just beyond the water’s edge can provide a wonderful flat surface to practice your delivery. Just bring a ball, and set up come soda bottles or tin cans in the place of pins.

Tug of War – All you need is a rope, and at least one other person. You draw a line in the sand, and with both of you on the ends of the rope, you try to drag the other person over the line. It can be hard to get a grip in the sand…which adds to the fun.Model Boats – With sand and surf all around, now is the perfect time to play with your toy boats. They can vary from a simple toy model that you picked up at the local dollar store, or to a more elaborate radio controlled model. Be sure to keep your eye on your vehicle…ocean currents and coastal winds can take your little boat away from you in an instant.
